Earlier this week Infowars reported on the possibility of vote rigging in Kentucky related to the U.S. Senate race. Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat against Rand Paul, will be allowed to oversee the election race. Grayson is Kentucky’s chief elections official. The Kentucky Executive Branch Ethics Commission apparently does not see a conflict of interest.
Paul is currently the frontrunner in the Senate primary.
A recent court case reveals that vote rigging and buying is a problem in Kentucky.
On March 25, the Associated Press reported on a jury in Frankfort Kentucky convicting a former judge and seven others of scheming to buy votes for several local offices in an eastern Kentucky county. The jury in U.S. District Court in Frankfort deliberated for nine hours over two days before convicting all eight people in a federal racketeering conspiracy. Other charges include mail fraud, extortion and laundering money that was used to buy votes.
The federal indictment charged that the defendants in the case were political bosses who used their powerful positions to head up the effort to buy votes. Others charged in the case allegedly played various roles, such as choosing corrupt election officers to help with buying votes, paying voters, and lining up people to sell their votes.
According to the indictment and testimony, participants in the scheme checked lists of voters to identify those who would take bribes and lined up people to drive them to the polls, where precinct workers made sure they voted correctly and gave them a sticker or ticket to redeem for their payment, the Associated Press reports.
